Start planning your Spring makeover now because the season’s most relevant hair trend is here and it’s all about long, tousled, boho waves. Whether worn loose and down, or in a messy, piecey ponytail or braid, Spring 2015’s hottest hair is free spirited and bohemian-inspired. Celebrity hair stylist Richard Collins breaks down the top three styles of the season and gives us the step by step of each, using his favorite Schwarzkopf products.
Long, barely-there, loose waves are everything this Spring, and Collins says they are totally easy to create. Start with dry hair, and spritz with Schwarzkopf Elastin Curls and Moisture Soft Tousle Spray. Next, take a one inch portion of hair and wrap it around a wide- barrel curling iron. You don't want to clip hair into the barrel. Wrapping allows you to curl all the way to the root. When you're curling, make sure to leave ends loose to avoid a crimp mark. Release the curl after about fifteen seconds, then roll it up and bobby pin it close to the scalp. Alternate the direction of the curl as you work your way through each section. Alternating directions makes curls look more natural. Some curls can remain tight, some loose. Once pinned curls have cooled, release them and separate with your fingers. Set hair with Schwarzkopf Crystal Shine and Hold Laminating Shine Spray.
Another super easy and ultra low key option Collins loves this season is a low, wavy ponytail. Start by spritzing Schwarzkopf Biotin Volume and Vitality Daily Wonder Serum to damp hair and allow it to air dry. Once your hair is dry, wrap sections around a styling wand. Then tousle through your waves using your fingers to separate them. Gather your hair back into a low ponytail just behind the crown of your head and wrap a piece of your hair around the elastic to conceal it. Pull some pieces out for an effortlessly messy effect. Finish your look with Schwarzkopf Diamond Color and Radiance Shine Boost Tonic spray.
The most Boho of all the styles this season, according to Collins, is the textured fishtail braid. He suggests trying this on second day hair, as dirty hair holds the style better. Apply Schwarzkopf Biotin and Volume and Texture Magic Powder to dry hair and work into the roots for extra volume. Position the braid near the nape of the neck off to the side and pull hair back into a ponytail. If this is your first time trying a fishtail, start by securing your hair with disposable clear elastic. Divide the ponytail into two smaller, equal-sized ponytails. Separate a half-inch section of hair from the outside of the left ponytail. Pull this piece across the top of the left ponytail over to the right ponytail. Next, separate a half-inch section of hair from the outside of the right ponytail. Pull this piece across the top of the right ponytail over to the left ponytail. Repeat steps three to six until you run out of hair. Keep it messy, this is what gives it the Boho vibe. When you’re finished braiding, secure the ends with a second elastic. If you used elastic to start at the nape of the neck, cut it out. Finish by pulling some pieces out around your face and spritzing with Schwarzkopf Satin Frizz Control & Protect Divine Finishing Polish.
