Hairstyles with Stretch Comb Headband

Stretch comb headbands were popular in the 1990s. They are back in style now. We discovered hairstyles with flexible headbands on catwalks and show how to wear this practical hair accessory

The stretchy comb headband was really popular in the 1990s. For a few years, women and men sported headbands at home, at work, at the gym and even with evening wear. For a few years, the practical accessory had a place in almost every woman’s arsenal of hair accessories. Now, after about two decades, stretch headbands are back in style.

Flexible Comb Headbands are Fashionable, Practical, and Sophisticated

While some consider comb headbands a fashion abomination, others love to wear the accessory. As always, beauty and taste are in the eye of the beholder. Like them or hate them, for the time being, flexible comb headbands are back.

Fashionable: Models on catwalks are wearing stretch comb headbands. This may be the beginning of a new trend. The flexible bands hold beach waves out of the face and keep hair safely tucked into ponytails.

Practical: Flexible headbands can be used as part of many different hairstyles whether your hair is short or long, straight or curly, open or gathered into updos or ponytails. They quickly and conveniently keep hair out of the face.

Sophisticated: Models use the stretch comb headbands to create sophisticated styles. The front hair can be pushed back to create a structured Rasta-style appearance, while the hair in the back of the headband may be styled in all possible ways, e. g. as ponytail, beach waves, braids or chignons. There is no limit to your creativity.

The Stretch Comb Headband is back

Stretch Comb Headbands

The practical stretch comb headbands made quite a splash in the Helmut Lang fashion show. The models in this show used the flexible bands to sleek back their hair into ponytails. What was old is new again with a minor twist. The bands are pushed back a bit further than in the 1990s style. This hair fashion creates an austere space-age appearance.

Left: As stretch comb headbands are pushed back in the hair they give hair a line structure, which is particularly obvious in light hair
