Get the Look: Red Carpet Hair

The red carpet is every celeb’s chance to dress up and look their best, and the hair can often take as much planning as the gowns. With awards season right around the corner, fashionistas everywhere will be waiting to see Hollywood’s hottest stars rock the latest red carpet trends.

Celebrity hair stylist Richard Collins, who styles some of the biggest names in town for the awards, says that hair paired with couture gowns should be sleek and simple. It should never distract from the beauty of the gown, but it should be glam. A woman’s hair is her most important accessory on the red carpet. Richard gives us his take on the hair trends we will be seeing this awards season, all of which are easy to recreate at home using your favorite Schwarzkopf products.

One look we will see is simple center parts with beautiful flat ironed hair, swept back behind the shoulders. To recreate, start by clipping your blow dried hair into manageable sections. Grab a section of hair from the bottom half of your head, and quickly smooth the iron down the hair shaft. Continue this until you have straightened the bottom and mid-sections of your head. For the final sections near the crown of your head, lift hair off your scalp and get the iron as close to your roots as possible, pressing firmly while drawing the iron straight outward from your head. Comb in a center part and mist with Schwarzkopf Diamond Shine Boost Tonic.

Another classic look we will see is low pony tails that are clean and elegant. To recreate, blow dry hair straight and comb in a center part. Using a natural bristle brush, pull hair into a low, tight ponytail and secure it with elastic. Wrap a small piece of hair around to hide it and stick in a few pins. Mist hair with Schwarzkopf Diamond Shine Boost Tonic or Satin Divine Finishing Polish.

The final look Richard believes we will see is over the shoulder side-swept waves. To recreate, line up the starting point of your part at the outside of your brow and comb it in. Using bobby pins, secure hair to one side and spray with Schwarzkopf Biotin H2O Free Hair Spray. Using a large barrel curling iron, roll hair in sections for less than 10 seconds, to give hair a loose wave, spraying with Schwarzkopf Biotin H2O Free Hair Spray as you go. Work your way through, alternating the direction you wrap the hair. When done curling, lightly smooth hair from the root to the eye-line and mist with Schwarzkopf Diamond Shine Boost Tonic.
