Four Hairstyles That Look Better On Second Day Hair

Didn't have time to wash your hair this morning? No problem. A little grease goes a long way when it comes to holding a hairstyle. Freshly washed hair may seem like the road to gorgeousness, but it isn’t nearly as easy to work with as second-day hair, or hair that was washed a day or two ago.  Squeaky clean hair can slip out of pins and be rather difficult to coerce into a style. Not to mention, shampooing every day can strip your strands of their much needed natural oils. Lazy girls rejoice, we have four fast looks that actually look better on day-old locks. Read on for your best excuses to skip a daily shampoo routine.

The ever popular mermaid wave is the perfect look for second-day hair, mostly because unwashed strands hold curls longer than ultra-clean ones. Start by applying Schwarzkopf styiste ULTIME Biotin+ Volume Dry Shampoo to your hairline to absorb any root oils. Massage the product into your scalp and use a blow dryer at the roots to add volume. Use a 1-inch curling iron on small sections of your hair, and, holding the iron vertically, wrap each section around the iron from roots to ends. Tousle your hair at the roots to blend sections. Finish with Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Elastin Curls Toussle Spray for a straight-from-the-sand look.

The half-up top knot is another great style for disguising dirty hair days. The look works with short or long hair, and on any texture hair, and messy hairdos are having a moment now.  Start by separating you hair with the edge of a rattail comb for a clean line. Make the section starting on the outside corners of your eyebrows and draw the line all the way back to the back upper section of your head (think of a halo around the crown of your head and bring up the part of your hair that would be on top of it). Twist the hair into a playful knot and secure with bobby pins and an elastic. Spritz with some Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Biotin+ Volume Hairspray for extra volume and you’re ready to go.

Another chic option to keep oil ridden roots out of view is with braids, which add just enough texture to hide hair grease. Use Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Biotin+ Volume Dry Shampoo to absorb any excess oils. Gather hair to one side and make a simple braid, using a small elastic to close the end. Wrap the braid around the nape of your neck and secure to one side using bobby pins. Use Schwarzkopf styliste ULTIME Biotin+ Volume Hairspray to tame fly-aways. Keep in mind the more disheveled the better your braid will look. Double up on a few pieces, pull out a strand, whatever it takes to rough it up.

A messy ponytail is always a fun and flirty look and pulling your hair back from your face hides any traces of oil. Use a curling iron on random sections of your hair to add definition. Choose where you’d like to orient your ponytail to (high, low, to the side), then gather hair together and secure with an elastic. Give the ends of your ponytail a piece-y, windswept look with styliste ULTIME Elastin Curls Toussle Spray. Take a small section from the bottom of your ponytail and wrap it around the elastic, securing the ends with a bobby pin for a more polished pony.

Schwarzkopf has you covered on those mornings when you need that extra 15 minutes of sleep, or when your hair just needs a break. With all of your favorite styliste ULTIME products on hand, you can easily re-create any of our top four hair looks for second day hair on your unwashed strands. So go ahead and press the snooze button!
